Tap. Tap. Tap.
Long, pale fingers drummed softly against a hard surface. The perfectly manicured hand belonged to the woman who sat at a small table near the back of the room. She wore a tan turtleneck sweater, form fitting jeans, and black pumps. Her legs were crossed, one foot lifting slightly from the ground.
She was silent except for the monotonous tapping of her fingers against the table top, and her golden eyes swept back and forth across the room. Next to her ever restless fingers was a tall glass; the contents of which was a transparent yellow liquid. Tea, perhaps? Probably. This woman was known for liking that particular beverage.
Her overall demeanor seemed to drip with boredom. Maybe it was her displeased expression, or her lack of company and conversation, or maybe it was even the never faltering tap of nail to table that produced the window to her feelings. Either way, it was very obvious that the woman was having a very dull time.
Her indifference seemed to have the formally desired effect, however. No one bothered her, leaving the woman in her own corner of solitude. She liked that. She hated that. She was a very conflicted person. The woman usually enjoyed her time alone, but the tedious evening was proving a challenge for her; this is why she also hated the solitude. She was almost, almost, bored enough to indulge in conversation.
She would most likely leave before she hit the breaking point. She'd rather volunteer at an orphanage than give in and willingly walk up to someone and strike up some small talk; and she hated children.
The hand stopped it's tapping momentarily, and then raised to grab the glass of tea nearby. The woman lifted the drink to her lips, had a sip, and then placed it back down. The tapping resumed.
Tap. Tap. Tap...

Your the sound of redemption The faith that I've lost the answers I'm seeking no matter the cost You opened the window now I can see And you taught me forgiveness By giving your love back to me
all the things that you are
The evening was slowly upon New Orleans tonight. It didn’t seem like much, but to Emilia it meant everything. Get away to somewhere that was filled with something that could stand up to vampires to avoid being begged by them to do some random spell for her. That was if they knew she was a witch. She never let anyone know what she was, never hinted anything toward what she was. Most people could easily tell if they were an animator or a necromancer. But she hardly came across those people around town since there was so few of them.
Heading into The Lunatic Café she went to her normal table and sat down to a table that was close to someone who was sitting there tapping her fingers on the table. The noise wasn’t that annoying, but Emilia was listening to the other conversations around the café to hear what was going on. She had a book with her, but most people wouldn’t have cared what kind of book it was because it wasn’t any normal kind of book. It was a book only a witch or warlock would have with them and she kept it close to her as she sat at the table reading it.
The waitress came up to her, smiling, ”Hey, Emilia. The usual?” she asked as Emilia looked up at her and nodded. A glass of ice cold Dr. Pepper and chicken fingers was her usual order when she was here. The lycanthropes usually welcomed her here because she didn’t cause any trouble, but she was of much help to them as much as possible. She had helped with their problems even when they couldn’t figure out the problem themselves among the pack. Werewolves were known to own this place, but she hadn’t seen anyone else try to claim ownership over this place yet so she was sort of glad it wasn’t a full fledge shifter war over a building.
The tapping seemed to continue at the next table over. Was this woman bored or just waiting for someone to come to her table? She seemed new to the place. Emilia had never seen her here, but that didn’t mean much to the people of New Orleans with people coming and going with tourists going at their own pace of life. Emilia snapped her fingers to block any sound from the fingers coming out so it was almost as if the fingers were tapping nothing but air, but it soothed Emilia’s ears as she continued to look through the old worn pages of the spell book to see if there was something to give her something to test out, but of course most of the writing was disappearing with the age and wear and tear of the witches who had it before her.
”Here’s your order, Emilia. Enjoy! Just as you like it, dearie,” the waitress said as she set the food on the table. Emilia smiled ”Thanks. “ Emilia was a bit hungry tonight despite drinking her soda all the way to the bottom to have to ask for a refill on drinks. Emilia was a weird sort of witch, but she was one you could trust if something bad were to happen. If anything bad happened.
