He is despised and rejected of men ( a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief ) [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=align,center][atrb=style,width: 410px; padding: 10px; background-color: #2e5187; border: 1px dotted #000000; -moz-box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #000000; -webkit-box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #000000;] and we hid as it were our faces from him The buzzing, humming and beeping of machines could be heard throughout the hospital, nurses running this way while doctors were running that way. This was the floor for vampiric patients, the accident and emergency department always got busy at night-time because that was the only time vampires went out and made fools of themselves. It was interesting to watch from the private hospital room, the entire wall (connected to the corridor) made of glass, as the medical staff went about their business, tending to the sick and injured. Death was quite a rare phenomenon in the vampiric wards but that didn't stop the vampires getting into fights and turning up with broken wrists, the sort of thing that would have healed itself overnight with the proper care and attention.
Having paid a great deal extra to have his fledgling bedded up in a private room, the vampire lord was flicking through some trashy magazine or another whilst he waited for Rowan to wake up. She had undergone extensive surgery, the surgeons spending hours to remove the silver residue left in the message etched into her back. Presumably it was her true name and her ex-husband was out to get her, but he would have a tough time in succeeding now that the vampire master of New Orleans was aware of his existence and reason for being in his city. Once they were out of the hospital, Xavier would begin organising one of the bounty hunters he knew to hunt down the cretin and put an end to his life, stop him from bothering Rowan ever again.
Throwing the glossy magazine on the table beside his fledgling's bed, he interlocked his fingers and stared at the white wall in front of the bed, completely bare. Who knew how long it would be before the police turned against him, it was only a matter of time before somebody would try to take his title, probably framing him doing some murderous deed that would have him chased from the city by an angered mob. But for the moment he would exercise the power he had, getting little perks like this, securing a private room for his poor, wounded fledgling. He couldn't help but sneak a look at his watch, realising just how long she had been out for. Hours and hours, they really had dragged by too, but soon she would be conscious and shortly after they would be able to leave, making sure they left before the sun rose up from the horizon. table and image by crayola. |

She hadn't remembered much of what happened after Alan's attack, but she could remember him attacking her and leaving her off by herself. She a look around the bare room before her eyes fell upon the figure sitting close to the bed.
Had he been there the whole time? He looked miserable sitting there, like he wanted to do something more enjoyable than sitting by a bedside. "Have you been here the whole time?" Rowan asked as she held her hand out to grasp his over the edge of the bed. The hospital gowns, irked her as she started to notice that she was wearing one. The itchy and disgusting gown, made her want to get out of this place into a new change of clothes.
"How long, have I been here? And why are we here?" Her questions obviously gave away that she couldn't remember much of what happened after the attack. Or the information she had already leaked out that she wanted to keep hidden. Looking around the room, she wondered why there weren't any windows around, none to show the outside world. Why was that? Vampires weren't allowed to watch the darken skies while they were here? Rowan would stop with the pointless questions running through her head and figured the idiot who designed the building didn't want the entire vampire population on his ass because vampires were dying by the sunlight in their rooms. 247 words. He is despised and rejected of men ( a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief ) [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=align,center][atrb=style,width: 410px; padding: 10px; background-color: #2e5187; border: 1px dotted #000000; -moz-box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #000000; -webkit-box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #000000;] and we hid as it were our faces from him The change in breathing caught his attention first, listening as she was yanked out of her induced sleep and into the ragged reality that they all floated around in. Deciding to rise up from the hospital-provided chair, the vampire lord moved closer to the side of his fledgling, a few inches away from the edge of the medical bed. Looking down at her through a concerned expression, woe painted across his pallid and pale face, his right hand gently grasping her own hand as it reached out to him. Nobody was going to stop him from getting revenge for what had happened to Rowan, the human and vampiric governments detested werewolves, so they weren't going to miss one that had attacked a decent member of society, and no less than the fledgling of New Orleans's resident Master Vampire.
"Yes. Somebody had to watch over you," he said through a strained smile. Witnessing the misery and pain of others brought him great delight, but he couldn't stand seeing his fledgling in this sorry state. He would have to start questioning her soon, to get to the bottom of this mess, just exactly why a man thought to be her husband had carved her true name in her back. "A handful of hours," he responded. "You only just returned from surgery two hours ago." That was the remarkable thing about the vampiric ward at the hospital, they helped you a little on your way to recovery but your superhuman healing skills did most of the later work. Had she been human, there was no way she would have been able to leave soon, but she was a vampire, she was far greater than a pathetic human.
"You really don't remember?" he questioned, raising a slim eyebrow in surprise. Perhaps the shock of the ordeal had scrambled her memory, causing her to forget what had happened to her that night. "You were attacked in a club. A werewolf you named as Alan Blythe took a knife to your back. You had to come here to have the silver residue removed from your wounds." It was so strange to see her lying there in that bed, looking like a scared little girl who had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was at times of such low mood that he couldn't help but think about his daughter, wondering if she was still out there somewhere; the question he wanted answering is whether she was a free woman or still somebody's prisoner, locked away inside some horrific cell. table and image by crayola. |

Rowan somehow didn't seem surprised at that statement. So they hadn't been there long then, from what she gathered from his voice of concern. She figured it had been days or something.
He was questioning her memory of earlier that night. She shook her head no, that she hadn't remembered anything. "You were attacked in a club. A werewolf you named as Alan Blythe took a knife to your back. You had to come here to have the silver residue removed for your wounds." Werewolf? Alan was a werewolf? Since when?
"Get that fucking bastard away from me!" she had sat up right as if Alan Blythe was standing in the room as well. She sounded more frighten than angry at the moment. Fixing the blankets that been placed on her, she seemed to get comfortable again. "He didn't have any thing on him, when he grabbed me from behind. It would explain why I couldn't get out his grasp and why I was confused when you said you didn't like his kind when we walked into the club."
Rowan had pulled her knees up to her chest to allow her chin to rest on her kneecaps. "What did he carve into my back? It took him a while to do it with so many people around without much of anyone noticing what he was doing," Rowan asked as she watched Xavier's face for any sign of clues that would help her remember what exactly had happened after Alan left her alone. 258 words. He is despised and rejected of men ( a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief ) [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=align,center][atrb=style,width: 410px; padding: 10px; background-color: #2e5187; border: 1px dotted #000000; -moz-box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #000000; -webkit-box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #000000;] and we hid as it were our faces from him Releasing his fledgling's hand when she had the outburst about wanting the werewolf nowhere near her, the vampire lord took up the seat once again that was beside her medical bed. Interlocking his fingers, the vampire master listened absently to the young vampiress, wondering how he would be able to stop her attacker from striking again. Perhaps he should take her somewhere to be trained up, or teach her himself how to defend oneself from attacks. He had never given so much attention or care to any other fledgling, but he would need to do something to insure that this one survived for as long as possible. Perhaps he would take her on a hunt, show her how easy it can be for a vampire to take down a werewolf if only they know how to parry attack and respond with a volley of assault. Perhaps he would get to work on building her a weapon or two.
Watching her neaten the bed sheets after the outburst she just had, Lord Xavier unknotted his fingers, deciding to rest his hands on his abdomen as he sat on the chair, watching his fledgling. The image of a small and scared child was only heightened when the young vampiress dragged her knees up and under her chin, although he frowned when it came to her question. The surgeons had done all they could with the wound, removing all of the silver but the damage had been done, and it was likely that Rowan would have to live with her scars for the rest of her life. "It says 'Amethyst', which was the name he was calling in the street," he admitted. "So, care to explain to me why he would want to carve that into your back?" Xavier had already pieced together that his fledgling and the werewolf had been married, but it didn't hurt to probe a little deeper. table and image by crayola. |

There wasn't much she could do without alerting the damn hospital staff if she got out before being checked off as healthy. Which wouldn't have been hard as she was quite healthy as a horse even if she wasn't the kind of person to freak out over a bad experience.
"It says 'Amethyst,' which was the name he was calling in the street. So, care to explain to me why he would want to carve that into your back?" Oh dear, now for explanations. She was so going to love this night so much more. "I'm surprised he didn't carve his own name. Rowan isn't my real name. Its a one of two middle names my parents gave me. Amethyst is my real name. Amethyst Jezebel Rowan Amber. I changed it when I ran away from him. My family thinks I'm dead, grave marker in the family plot back home, forever dead at 20 to them." Rowan seemed almost sour talking about her family, having never really cared much about them. At least her parents, she didn't know what happened to her brother. The world was lost with him.
What else would he ask about? How she came around to meeting him? How she figured out he was out to kill her and why he would kill her? She wouldn't stay anything else. Not until the fool was dead and she was safe and sound with her life going back to normal. "Why do these rooms not have windows? Are they trying to make their patients go insane?" Rowan was sounding really annoyed by now, with all the questions and for still being in the hospital. She wasn't a fan of them, always asking questions to find the answers they need to get something from their patients. It wasn't better with Xavier either knowing that he would be asking for the answers even if she didn't want to tell him what exactly they meant. 342 words. Lord Xavier is starring. Such sweet blood, he remembered fondly. She really had been a treat and one of his favourite feasts, but should he drink her blood now it wouldn't be the same, she had lost the starry-eyed innocence that some called 'humanity'. Shaking the thoughts from his head, Lord Xavier let out a dark and rolling chuckle, one of his trademarks, when she had finished speaking, "You really have an awful habit of running into psychopaths, you know." First that bastard cur and then this vampire lord, but he had changed over the years, ever since eating his brother, it was if someone had turned a dial and decreased the blood-thirsty mania he used to suffer from.
Letting the chuckle die in his throat, leaving a devilish smirk on his lips, the vampire looked up at the ceiling, "Jezebel? How fitting, fledgling. It suits you far better than Rowan does." Perhaps he would start calling her by that name from now on, he wasn't exactly keen on referring to her as a precious stone. Listening to her comment on the lack of windows, Lord Xavier laughed and casually withdrew Jekyll from within his jacket. Casting his eyes over the oversized semi-automatic handgun that had devoured so many souls, he looked back to his fledgling, "We can leave if you like. They'll put up a fight but I won't let them keep you here against your will." Looking back to his trusted weapon, he ran his tongue over his right fang before speaking, "I'm going to have a lot of fun killing your husband." He could picture the snivelling cur begging for his death, they all tended to do that, and it was so unbecoming. Better for everyone if he shot them up and ate whatever was left. table and image by crayola. |

"You really have an awful habit of running into psychopaths, you know."
"You've been the only one I've stayed with for more than seven years. He didn't even make four years. And let me remind you. I didn't run into you. You found me, and wouldn't let me leave," She gave him a sarcastic smile once more. She felt better remembering that night than the one when she met Alan. Feeling like she was going to get locked up in prison instead of facing her own death with Xavier.
"Jezebel? You actually like that? My parents were drunk when they came up with baby names. They didn't give me a name until after we got back home from the hospital where they were drunk off their asses before giving me a name. They named my brother, Leif. Who does that?" Rowan was rambling, but she took the time to climb out of the hospital bed, making sure the damn thing didn't catch the hospital gown.
"Can we please go? These things drive me insane," she said grabbing the hospital gown as the thing that drove her insane. With their itchy and scratchy feeling, it made her want her clothes back. "Don't refer to him as that. He's nothing to me. I was young and drunk when I met him. There's not a pair of clothes here somewhere is there? Or did they ruin my clothes I was wearing when we came here?"
She seemed to be looking around for clothes, but found no luck. Obviously she would have had to ask for her clothes to get out of this dreadful place. It was driving her nuts with the screaming and crying she could hear from floors below with people dying or in pain. She wanted the silence of the night to be her soundtrack, not the screams of the weak. 317 words. Lord Xavier is starring. University Hospital is the location.

Crossing his legs and resting Jekyll on top of his knee, Lord Xavier stared down the barrel and wondered what would happen if he suddenly decided to squeeze the trigger. Keeping his eye trained, he responded, "We happy two." Suddenly releasing the tension, he relaxed his gaze and looked back at his fledgling. "And would you leave me if you could?" It had never really occurred to him that she had ever thought about leaving his side, she was a unique slave in the sense he no longer really saw her as one despite the fact she still bore his mark. He'd never heard her ask to be released from his service, but then she was living a far easier life (if it can be called that) than those who had proceeded her in the past. "Would you ever ask me to let you go?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.
Taking his time, Lord Xavier slipped his handgun back inside his jacket, letting it return to the cradle under his arm. He had designed the slings himself and decided to leave out the safety catch, meaning that his firearms were always ready to be drawn and blow some cretin's head off. Smiling as he thought of how Jekyll had killed his fledgling's humanity, he looked back at her, "I am fond of the name. It suggests a lack of morality and you know how much I detest morals." Looking away, smile stumbling into a frown, he thought of the good old days when he had been running rampant, having destroyed his conscience and moral backbone centuries ago. The darkness that plagued his mind had been concocting some diabolical ideas recently, about making deals with the devil, looking to destroy all effects of eating his brother had had on him, it was driving the vampire lord slowly insane.
Noticing that she was looking for her clothes, the vampire stood up from his chair, deciding not to mention her husband until he had found out a little more about him. "I will see if they have them somewhere," he muttered, walking across the room to the door. Gripping the handle firmly and pushing down, Xavier yanked the door open and stepped out into the corridor, closing the door behind him. Looking around for a member of the hospital's staff that wasn't tending to a wounded vampire, he demanded the clothes for his fledgling, suggesting they throw in a spare hoodie because of how much damage had been done to her pretty little top. Standing in the corridor, watching as the woman returned with the clothes, he pointed at the room, watching as she trotted in to hand them over. OOC: Once they exit the hospital, I'm going to have Xavier leave her as he needs to sort out a demon. So, you're free to post with everybody else ^-^ table and image by crayola. |

And would you leave me if you could?" Rowan looked at him wondering how he would have came up with such a thing, but it did occur to her, that she was a slave to him, but it hardly felt like it was. A master usually let their slaves deal with such pain on their own, not take them to a hospital to have doctors fix them right back up to new. "Would you ever ask me to let you go?" Was this a trick question? Was he testing her? "Would you allow it though? I wouldn't ask it if I felt that I could go off on my own and be fine by myself," Rowan felt a little odd in her word choice, but it seemed to fit well with her answer.
She had noticed he was a bit different ever since he took out his brother by eating him. He was no longer that man who was always out to cause mayhem and shed blood where ever he went. Rowan didn't know which one she liked better. His old self or the new one, but she felt like she was at a lost of words to explain why she wouldn't leave him or if she would.
"I am fond of the name. It suggests a lack of morality and you know how much I detest morals." She smiled at the response of her middle name. She could have changed her name to Jezebel, but it would have seemed odd to have as a name and would most likely make her stand out if someone knew who she was. Rowan seemed normal compare to the other names out there.
Watching as Xavier stood up from his seat to go look for clothes for her she sat on the edge of the bed to wait for someone to bring them back. She had zoned off when she heard the door open to see a nurse coming in with her clothes and an extra item of clothing. She snatched them from the woman hissing at her to get out before changing into the clothes. Feeling much better in the clothing than a hospital gown, she had the gown neatly folded on the neatly made bed and left the room while trying to put her slipped on shoes back on, bouncing around as she exited the doorway.
"I think I'm ready, you? Are you ready to go? Or does Alan have your panties in a wad that you're too scared to face a wife killer?" She was trying to make a joke, but it probably wasn't the best of them. It helped lighten the mood for her. Probably not for him with his deceased wife and missing child. She would try to avoid such topics again if it made him annoyed. 468 words. Lord Xavier is starring. University Hospital is the location.

Vampire nurses were always in sight, having been employed because civilian vampires couldn't be trusted around human nurses when blood was in the air. Speaking of which, Lord Xavier was growing quite peckish himself, his maroon eyes tracking the tasty nurses as they went about their duties. Folding his arms, the vampire lord imagined properly cooking their flesh and tucking in with a goblet of their blood to accompany the delicious meal. Perhaps he would escort his little fledgling to the limousine then skulk off into the night, find himself something delicious to eat, something with a little bite.
Watching casually as the nurse went in and briskly came back out, Xavier cracked a smile just by imagining Rowan's tone to the poor woman just trying to do her silly job. Still smiling, the vampire ran a deathly cold hand through his dark hair, looking down at the linoleum flooring that had seen its fair share of spalttered blood. Thankfully it wasn't too long before she emerged from the room, he was growing sick and tired of having to watch vampires being pushed this way and that, all of them idiots, frauds and pretenders. "I don't think I could stomach another second here," he admitted, pushing himself off the desk, looming over his fledgling. "I don't experience fear," he stated simply and started walking down the busy corridor, heading straight for the elevator, the escape route.
As he was walking down the corridor toward the elevator, nurses flitting this way and that, preoccupied with saving the supposed lives of vampires, Lord Xavier was mulling over some troubling information that had reached his attention. He had been told that a pair of demons had surfaced from the underworld and were looking to use New Orleans as their playing field. This vampire lord had come across many demons in his past but they had always been relatively new to the game and were easy to vanquish, his sources had informed him that these two vampires were experienced psychopaths. Instead of going in search for a meal, he would see if he could track down these troublesome two and put a stop to them before they ruined his city, although deep down he knew it was not going to be easy even if he was the only one who stood a chance against them. table and image by crayola. |

I don't experience fear." That seemed to cause Rowan some lost humor when she heard that. She had been hoping for some kind of laugh from him, but clearly he didn't think it was funny or didn't know humor very well. "I thought you would have laughed at that. It was suppose to be funny!" She said following him down the corridor.
"There's something on your mind, I know by the look on your face." Rowan kept pace with him as they walked through the hallways of the hospital. She could see the nurses and doctors bustling to and fro as if they were on a mission. She couldn't understand why anyone would want to be a doctor or work in a hospital for that matter. Especially if one was a vampire, with the blood that was always around, they would have to be careful not to get caught stealing all of the blood from the human patients on the different floors. Rowan knew she couldn't possibly do that, but then again that was why she was an artist and not someone working health care. Though it made her curious as to where they were going next. If they were going back home or to another club so he could check on the business. Either way, she seemed fine wherever they went off to next. 234 words. Lord Xavier is starring. If the rumours were really true and there were a couple of demons going to surface in his city, then he would have to be there to try and put a stop to their doings, although he was conscious of just how powerful those creatures were and he had never had to take on two by himself. Still moving down the corridor, blocking out the noise created by the teeming hospital, Lord Xavier resolved that he would have to take them down one by one rather than as a couple, he stood more chance of succeeding that way but it was still going to be tough despite all of his power. It had been so long since he had properly engaged in a battle that he hoped he was still capable of bringing down such creatures, but only time would tell.
Snapping out of his trance, the vampire lord turned his head, casting his maroon eyes down upon his little fledgling. "I am not in the mood for laughter," he explained, flashing her one of his nightmarish grins, magnificent fangs on full display. In all honesty, he was too caught up in his thoughts to be jovial about something trivial. They could have their fun and games after he had sorted out one of the bloody demons headed straight for his beautiful city. Deep down he knew that the humans would try and persecute him for his attempts to stop them, but he would love more than anything to see them try and bring down one of the demonic creatures that would be surfacing soon on their own. Tearing his gaze away from Rowan, the vampire master threw it down upon the ground, watching it pass under his feet as he neared the elevator that would allow them to escape.
Coming to a complete halt, Lord Xavier reached out with his pale hand, index finger pressing against the chrome button. It was several floors down and there would be something of a wait before they would be able to stumble inside it. Clearing his throat and running a hand through his dark hair, the vampire master exhaled deeply before responding to his fledgling, "There's major trouble heading straight here." Dropping his hand to his side, Xavier watched as the red digits above the closed doors started to ascend. "Two demons with a nasty reputation. The humans won't be able to do anything to stop them." Falling silent, he trained his dark eyes on the digits and gladly entered the elevator as the chime signalled its appearance. Turning around, the vampire looked at his fledgling, wondering if he could keep her safe from the demonic duo. table and image by crayola. |

Rowan had hoping for a better response than one that made her mood go south. She had seen one of his grins that gave her the willies. Maybe it hadn't been the best time to do such a thing. Was there something he was in a hurry to get to that he didn't want to join in the jokes she was creating? She had been trying to things lighten up a bit more instead of everything being dark and moody.
"There's major trouble heading straight here." |
[/b] Rowan didn't quite fully understand what kind of trouble. She figured it had been a storm coming, like a hurricane.Though she had hoped it wouldn't have turned out like the one that left New Orleans a mess when they had came into the city a year before the hurricane came. "Two demons with a nasty reputation. The humans won't be able to do anything to stop them." Oh this seemed to clear things up a bit more. So it wasn't a storm, it was just demons. She had been about to speak up, when the elevator doors opened. She waited for the elder vampire walk in first before she entered behind him. "When have you ever expected humans to do something against the supernatural? They are like mere ploys to others. What could they do that we couldn't do?" She wasn't full of questions like she used to be, but she knew better than to ask the ones that seemed pointless and meaningless. Would the demons affect her life by coming here or would they ruin it like Alan had? [/div] 272 words. Lord Xavier is starring. University Hospital is the location.

So much pain, misery and woe for such a small place, pointless sacks of flesh that waddled this way and that, looking for their next feed, the next sweet hit in the vein. Slamming the palm of his hand against the button marked 'G', Lord Xavier was clearly in a dark mood, becoming more and more irritable with each passing moment. "Do you want the limousine to pick you up?" he asked coldly. He didn't care where she wanted to go, he just needed to be away from her before she was caught up in the frightful mess that was heading straight for him. The last thing he wanted was for her to get caught up in the whole affair and risk her life.
Feeling the whole elevator lurch into action, it was a few seconds before they slowly started to descend. The gods help anybody that tried to get on, slowing down the master of New Orleans' escape from that infernal place. He wasn't in the mood to be hanging around in a building teeming with the sick and wounded, reminders of how weak people were. Refusing to look at his fledgling as they eased their way down to the ground floor, he responded to her none-the-less, "They can avoid persecution for trying to defend the city." Scratching his throat as they hit the first floor, still slowly being dropped down to the ground, he carried on speaking, "They won't be able to stop them, so I'm going to have to." Flashing a small smile of satisfaction as the elevator came to a halt, the chime going off and the doors sliding apart for the two of them to exit, Xavier stepped out into the hospital's lobby, twisting his head to the left and spotting the exit, walking slowly toward it. table and image by crayola. |
