. a voice seemed to get to her through the pain and darkness. and at first she couldn't make out what it was saying. "it's not that bad...I should be able to fix it..." the female smiled coughing up some blood as she tried to sit up. her body wouldn't respond though. she didn't quite understand why. oh that's right she had been shot multiple times. the fear set in again as the tears streamed down her face. mercy placed a hand on his arm with much effort.
. the world seemed to slow down as she fought to breathe. each breath was a fight to stay alive. the tears didn't seem to stop as she looked up at malcolm. what had he said? some about living. he had asked her if she still had the desire to live. that is exactly what he had said. she gripped her sword tightly. her eyes still burned with the need to fight. she may be dying but her will was still strong. she tried again to move but things were failing. the taste of blood never seemed to leave her mouth. looking up at the sky, she smiled softly realizing what he was asking her. she may have been dying but did she want to keep living. it wouldn't be as a human but as a werewolf.
. he could save her life but it would be something that would change it forever. the act was against the law and they both could be killed for it. sighing that ended with a cough, the female brought her attention back to malcolm. her choice clear in her eyes. "please don't let me die....I won't tell anyone what happened." the female pleaded to him hand gripping her sword and the other gripping his arm. she didn't care what happened but one thing she knew for sure was that she didn't want to die. not tonight. not ever. Never felt this way before... [/u] ----------------------------------------- He could see it in her eyes, that will to live. Well, technically, he could see the tears. The will was something else, something intangible, but it was certainly there. Whether that meant forever or not..well, that was another matter. She definitely hadn't considered it before this. After all, who went through life expecting to die? Who went through it wanting to turn into a monster? He gave a little smile at her attempt at humor. It was weak, considering the circumstances, but at least she hadn't lost her wit yet. That would go soon... He watched it fade, and the tears set in. Not many people had the opportunity to face their death and go on living. Not many people preferred the side effects. For one, immortality. For another... well, suffice it to say that being called a monster would occur a lot more often. There was also the issue of the full moon.
Still, there was a smile on her face as she looked past him at the sky. Despite all of her pain, all it took was an offer to make her smile again. Well, he supposed that he had his answer. Most people wouldn't have chosen the same... Her words only confirmed it, and he nodded, reaching down to brush her eyes closed with his palm. "Don't look. This shouldn't hurt, but it is going to feel a bit...odd. " Bending down, he fastened his teeth in her neck, gently applying pressure until they broke through the skin. Normally, pain would have set in immediately, but this was a different process than feeding.
Turning, as it was called, was relatively painless for all involved. The wound would ache for a bit afterwards, but during the change, it would be as numb as every other part of her body. Closing his eyes, he sought out the proper portions of her blood, feeding them with his own bestial vitality, dragging them out. The immediate change would be survival, her wounds closing. It was a miracle cure, really, aside from the obvious issues. Most times, even immortals couldn't heal so fast. The physical changes would take longer, but the time varied. Sometimes minutes... Sometimes hours. The longest he'd heard of was three days, but a period that long was uncommon. Still, for at least a week, the changes could be reversed, at the risk of her injuries returning... ----------------------------------------- Why do you make this so...

. as he bent down, she flinched unable to help herself as she felt his teeth on her neck. at first she didn't feel anything as he continued to bite her. but then there was a bit of a tingling sensation that seemed to start at her neck and then keep going. it didn't hurt it just felt weird. very weird actually. when he pulled away her eyes seemed to widen a bit. this was odd but then all of a sudden the pain of the wounds hit her. it was like a wave crashing over her. she groaned gripping his arm. teeth clenched together her fingers dug into his arm before she pulled away from him.
. she started coughing up blood a bit more as the werewolf blood seemed to course through her veins. it didn't hurt but her wounds were so bad. and there were so many of them. the brilliant sapphire blue of her eyes lightened to an ice blue, almost white. her veins seemed to pop out of the skin a bit as her wounds began to heal themselves. the bullets were being forced out of her skin and they hit the ground with small clinks. the female's chest heaved as she struggled to breath. it was like her body was locked in a battle as it tried to heal itself and repair what damage had been done. all of a sudden her senses seemed to come alive and smells filled her nose. everything seemed so much better now to her. hand gripping her sword, she sat up slowly.
. her head seemed a bit fuzzy but it soon cleared. looking herself over, she saw the wounds were gone. completely healed. what in the world. curious she touched the blade of her sword and hissed as it burned her finger. she drew back growling slightly out of reflex. "I'm a werewolf now? is that what this means?" she asked softly looking over at him, her eyes still the icy blue. she was curious about this new thing she had become. not scared or anything but curious. she tried to stand up, but her leg hadn't completely healed. apparently one of the bullets had gone through the bone shattering it. her new body wasn't completely healed yet. Never felt this way before... [/u] ----------------------------------------- Mal pulled back, then stepped back, eyes fading to a simple green as he leaned against a tree, sighing and watching her. He hadn't ever turned anyone before. The action had been almost instinctual, once his body knew what he wanted. His arm bled slightly where her fingernails had dug into it, but he ignored the pain, eyes focused solely on her. Anything quite as... dramatic as this would doubtlessly hurt to mend. Flesh knitting itself back together was an altogether...uncomfortable feeling, to say the least. Most times, you had to think about something else in order to get past it. Unfortunately, she didn't have anything else to think about, nothing that he could offer her, anyway. So she was stuck with the healing by herself. It was still interesting to watch, in a grim sort of way. The way her eyes lightened, the sound of the bullets hitting the ground. It was a scene that wouldn't leave his memory any time soon, of only because he was the cause of it.
Then, by all appearances, it was over, and the woman sat there, her borrowed clothes covered with blood, bullets around her, but largely whole. The first confirmation was the reaction she had when she touched the blade of her sword. It was a nasty one, alright. Very pure silver. He could smell it from here. Of course, the blade of his spear was made from similar material, so he wasn't one to judge. He bent to retrieve his weapon, twisting the shaft in his hands. It sprang apart into two pieces of equal length, which he held together lazily in one hand. He couldn't help but smile, though. It had worked. The nearly dead woman was healthy, or mostly so. The bullet holes that had riddled her body were gone, and, he noticed as she spoke, her canines had undergone some not insignificant development.
She still couldn't stand, though, and he bent to pick her up, carrying her easily in his arms. He was still careful to keep the blade of her sword from touching his skin. "Aye" He said, his accent coming through in his amusement. "You're a werewolf now, sure enough. As for the leg, it should mend itself soon, no more than a day of rest and you'll be right as rain." He began walking back towards the house, still carrying her. "Of course, I can't promise that Siren will really understand, but...well... It doesn't really matter. If anything, you'll only be around for a day, if that." He stepped through the still open door into the main hall and set her down on one of the couches, moving to close the door and lock it. "So...any other questions? Or do you want a shower and another change of clothes, since you seem to have ruined those as well..." ----------------------------------------- Why do you make this so...

. she let him carry her inside without so much as a fuss. she was tired and a shower sounded good right about now before she asked questions. "I'll shower then find you and question you. sorry but I'm going to have too." she admitted looking down a bit. very carefully she pushed herself up and hobbled to the bathroom. hobble might not have been the best of terms because she used her sheathed sword as a cane. it looked very amusing actually. once in the bathroom, she decided to take a bath, but it was a quick one. washing the blood off, she rinsed and then got out. while she was drying, she took a good look at herself. her eyes had changed in color a bit and she wondered if it would be a while before they turned back. other than that she looked normal.
. her bruises were gone and scratches disappeared. there were only a few things she was going to have to deal with. her canines were rather sharp and pointed. guess she wont be smiling all that much anymore. her neck was a scared mess too. it was littered with vampire bites and the bite from malcolm though it really looked like she had been used as a chew toy by a vampire. no one would really know the difference. there were a couple of scars from the bullets littering her body but overall she looked whole. healthy. leaving the bathroom she rummaged through the closet grabbing a t-shirt and another pair of shorts. she made sure not to touch the females clothes. didn't want to get poor malcolm in trouble. once she was dressed and ready she headed out surprised to find her radar intact. not to mention her sense of smell helped as well.
. it didn't take her long to find him and when she did she pulled him into a hug. she had so many questions and things to ask him but she owed him her life. no she owed him more than that. "thank you. for everything," she smiled and kissed his cheek before sitting in a chair near-by. "I should have known it was going to be a bad morning when I woke up covered in blood." she joked lightly giving him a full grin canines and all. "first off I swear not to tell a soul about what happened because I know what happens if they found out. second as far as everyone else knows I'm human." she held his gaze for a moment her cool eyes meeting his green ones before she dropped them. "alright now what do I need to know? what about the full moon? will I lose control at all? just tell me everything please?" she questioned eyes sparkling with curiosity. Never felt this way before... [/u] ----------------------------------------- Mal nodded in acknowledgement, watching her hobble off on her makeshift cane. Normally, he would have offered to help, but carrying a woman to a bathtub was a bit too much, even for him. Unless it was Siren, but that went without saying. As for him, he went back to his room, carrying the two parts of his spear with him. For a while, he cleaned the blade off, careful not to let it brush against his bare skin. Then, with just as much care, he polished the shaft, wiping it down with a soft cloth, erasing all traces of blood. With that done, he placed it in the wooden case next to the bed, setting it back in its rack. Then, with a sense of weariness, he moved to clean all of the residual ash from whatever vampires had made their way inside out of the house. It wasn't a long job, only five or ten minutes, but he had never been the type to enjoy cleaning.
Finished with his secondary tasks, he made his way to the sitting room to wait. At least, he called it the sitting room. It was a large room, with several quite old, quite comfortable chairs in it. Two of them sat next to the fireplace, but it was empty. It was, after all, still summer. He wiped the residual dust away before sitting, head back, allowing the residual fatigue from the combat to wash over him as the adrenaline finally started to fade. It was always like this. After fighting, he would feel like he could sleep through a tornado or two. Not that he really wanted to test the theory, but it sounded good in his head.
He smelled her coming, now that she had the smell of fresh shampoo, she stuck out like a sore thumb among the scents of the house. He rose to greet her as she came in, returning her hug only slightly self-consciously, and smiling as she kissed his cheek. "I did nothing worth thanking me for..." He said, grinning. "This might still be the worst day of your life, even if it is the day you cheated death." Sighing, he sank back into the chair, rubbing his temple with one hand. "What you need to know...Well, for starters, I would avoid any company on the full moon but other werewolves. You will likely retain your consciousness, but the younger ones such as yourself occasionally have some issue with taming the beast inside, so to speak. Understanding will come in time, and control, as well." His hand moved to her lip, curling it up slightly until he could see her canines. "As for the things you can't hide, the teeth don't actually stick out as much as you'd think, but I'd stick to smiling with your mouth closed for a while. Your eyes..." His emerald eyes looked up into hers, sparkling slightly. "Well, they'll be more of an indicator of your emotions. Fortunately, humans don't seem to look people in the eye much, so you might be in luck there...
With a sigh, he leaned back, sinking into the comfortable cushions. "One more thing, really. You're going to be stronger than you were, faster too. Your mind will likely operate quicker than most people. Still, you shouldn't tip your hand too much, or they'll get curious, or even worse, scared. Don't run and jump in front of people, because it's easy for them to see the difference between you and them. Practice a bit, get used to it, before you start feeling comfortable around other people. Of course..." He looked down at her leg. "You'll have to wait for that to heal first" ----------------------------------------- Why do you make this so...

. settling herself in the chair she listened to what he told her. taking in everything and mulling it over in her head. she was a werewolf now. different from humans and vampires. easy to kill but at the same time not. after he had finished she sat back in her chair a bit thinking about everything that would happen from now on. while he may claim this was the worst day of her life she was still happy. yeah werewolves were treated like absolute shit, but maybe she could change that. she hadn't felt any different when she was turned. there was a small itch that seemed to be at the back of her mind. she wanted to run. on two legs or four but she wanted to run. that was something she would come to deal with. she had always been quick at learning things. though she wished her leg would be better soon so that she could go for a run. "the senses and everything I have figured out. it actually ties into my radar which is still in existence by the way." she flashed him another toothy grin before remembering and going for a closed lip one instead.
. there were so many things she wanted to know. so many things she wanted to do. right now her radar was clear minus the werewolf sitting next to her. she wondered if humans would have a different sound to them now. a small smile settled over her as she looked back over at malcolm. "so obviously silver is bad and I should definitely avoid vamps unless I have too. is there anything else I should know?" she questioned looking over at the fireplace sword on her lap. it was in it's sheath but she could feel the hum of silver coming from it. "not gonna lie this has been one very interesting day." she laughed softly to herself looking down at the ground. what would happen now? it wasn't like she could go waltzing into work and announce she was a werewolf. thankfully it was an all human place so they couldn't smell her. they also had their own hours which shouldn't be a problem around the full moon.
. she would make this work. she would and she always had. even if she was a wolf now things had gotten better for her. she was now the best federal marshal of her unit. "not gonna lie but I'm wiped. I would stay here but I don't want your mate to come home and find me napping in your bed. I don't think that would end very well so I'm probably better off heading to my place." using her sword as a cane she stood up steadying herself a bit. hopefully this leg would heal soon. she hated hobbling around like this. "malcolm if you ever need anything. and I mean anything. please let me know. I owe you everything and then some. I have no regrets about becoming a werewolf and nor shall I ever. I've always been fond of the moon." she flashed him a full grin canines and all as she headed for the door. WORDS: 528 TAGGING: mal NOTES: meh haha We're not running, we're not running |

Never felt this way before... [/u] ----------------------------------------- Well, it was certainly interesting that her inherent psychic abilities remained. In fact, she would probably have an even easier time of finding people, now that her senses were so acute. Smell was a wonderful thing, he had always said. It allowed you to see in the dark, though their eyes already did that. It allowed you to see when you were blindfolded, that was a more apt description. Even if your eyes were gouged out (god forbid), then your nose would point the way. It was an interesting concept, made even more so by her pre-existing ability to find people. Now she'd be practically impossible to get away from, what with her numerous methods of locating someone. Of course, where a sense of smell truly came in handy was those times when the person had already left. Old scents were very informative, as was clear by the scents on her sword. Old blood was very distinctive, no matter what creature it came from.
He grinned in response, a feral expression crossing his face momentarily. "Yes, silver is bad. Vamps, actually, you don't really need to avoid. They don't have the sense of smell that we do, so they won't be able to tell you apart from normal humans until you start fighting them." He didn't mention the problems about her work. She was plenty smart enough to figure out solutions to that on her own. Humans usually left well enough alone. What they didn't know couldn't hurt them, after all.
He laughed at her words. It was true, the last thing he needed was for Siren to come home and find him entertaining a lady caller in the sitting room, with her wearing his clothes. Of course, Siren trusted him, but that might strain even their normally rock solid relationship. Explanations could come later, but for now, he just needed to see that she remained safe for a time. Long enough that she could get back up on her feet and moving along with her new life, such as it was. "Tell you what..."" He said, rising with her. "I'll walk you home. Two reasons, really. One, just in case they're any more stalker vampires on the way, and two, I would like to know where you live, in case you ever need help. Not that I'm saying it's likely. Just possible." He grinned back at her as he followed her towards the door. "Oh, and one more thing. You don't have to play up this 'moon' thing quite so much. We're not like vampires, we can go out in the sun. Keep your normal schedule. It'll keep questions away." ----------------------------------------- Why do you make this so...

. she didn't turn down his offer. she wouldn't mind the help in case she ran into trouble. knowing what kind of day she had today, she wouldn't put it passed whoever was higher up to send more bad news her way. at his comment about the moon thing she blushed a bit feeling yet again embarrassed. as she stepped out of the house she let the smells of the outside world fill her nose. everything was so much different now, she could smell the rabbit running near by. she could hear the leaves and twigs crunching beneath it's feet. she felt like a real predator for a moment. her eyes practically white with wonder and curiosity. "this is so weird now. it's like everything has been muffled. I feel like I've been missing out on so much." she whispered more to herself than anything, but she didn't doubt he could hear her.
. as they walked she kept somewhat silent letting her mind have a chance to process everything. there were so many things she had to do now. so many things to look out for. what about isi. oh no what about isi. she couldn't face her best friend not after this. "oh man....that's gonna suck..." this time she said the words a little louder. "my best friend is also a federal agent but she hates vampires and werewolves." her voice faded off slightly as she spoke. wincing slightly at the thought of having to confront her best friend, she decided that it was something she would deal with when the time arose. it wasn't like she was gonna go around blabbing she was a werewolf. her best friend knew her really well and she was going to have to avoid her now until she had a hang of this werewolf thing. sighing softly, she focused on walking for a while.
. they were almost to her apartment complex and thankfully there wasn't a soul outside. no one would give her odd looks for using a sword as a cane. "I just hope this Siren doesn't get on your case too much about the place smelling like unknown werewolf" mercy admitted feeling a little guilty. this man that she hardly knew put his life on the line for her and there was no way she'd be able to repay him. everything he was doing could end badly if something went wrong. she might need his help in the future. probably around the full moon at least. making it to her door, she leaned against it and looked at malcolm and then pulled him in for another hug. after a few moments she let him go and laughed softly. "wow I still don't think it will sink in right away. it's gonna be rough but I'll manage. I honestly can not thank you enough Malcolm." she smiled at him touching his arm slightly. she really meant it. WORDS: 485 TAGGING: mal NOTES: meh haha We're not running, we're not running |

Never felt this way before... [/u] ----------------------------------------- He walked silently beside her. He wasn't really worried about attackers sneaking up on them. After all, she had her 'radar', and they both had their noses. Nothing smelled out of place, as far as he could tell. The animals, which had fled to their respective bolt holes during the brief siege, had crept out again to enjoy the night. They would stop and sniff curiously at the small piles of ash, but snort disgustedly and move on. His green eyes crept to the edge of the property, where a small rabbit sat, its entire body quivering as it ingested its food. Poor thing was probably going to be food for the owls, soon enough. He noticed one of the silent predators sitting atop the roof, large eyes turning dolefully back and forth. With a soft smile, he turned his attention back to Mercy, who had fallen silent. It was to be expected, really. The sheer amount of smells could overwhelm those who weren't ready for it. A lot of the older werewolves knew this, and could somewhat regulate the amount they took in through their nose.
As she spoke about her friend, his eyes softened in sympathy. Of course, he had anticipated this problem. Even if her friend hadn't been a hater of vampires, Most people hated werewolves. Why this was, he had no reason. Perhaps it was because their human prey didn't actually survive the feeding process, unlike vampires. Still, he was slightly worried for her. If this Isi was a federal marshall as well, then she doubtless had the inclination to kill any werewolf that crossed her path. She might make an exception for an old friend, but as for the man who had turned that friend...that was far less likely. Still, Mercy had promised that she would never tell, and he trusted her that much, if only because she owed him her life twofold times. It was a grim way to look at it, certainly, but debts of life were always the strongest, even if he didn't enjoy holding them over someone's head.
Wincing, his eyes shifted guiltily. Siren would be curious about the scent of a female werewolf in the building that wasn't her or one of her group. "It'll be fine..." He said softly. "She knows me well enough to know that I'm not that stupid." He smiled, running a hand through his hair sheepishly. "Besides, she knows how much I love her. That should give me enough time to explain." He grinned, all pointy canines and golden eyes for a moment before the feral image faded back to normal. Her arms were soft around him, and he hugged her back momentarily, nodding. "It probably will take time to set in....And like I told you.." He laughed, but softly, not really wanting to attract the attention of anyone nearby. "You don't need to thank me for anything, pup..." Laughter danced in his eyes as he began to turn away, but remembering something held back a moment longer. "Here..." He handed her a card. "This is my number, if you ever need help." Of course, it was the house number. He didn't have a cell. Still grinning, he turned and slipped away into the night. ----------------------------------------- Why do you make this so...
