Green eyes scanned the streets quickly as he moved away from the train he had taken to this area. Normally He never left his home or wander this far away from it. But his job had him dropping off a package to an uptown apartment. Needless to say Rhian just wanted to drop the thing off and head back to pick up his money and head home.
Nervously he brushed his fingers through his hair, the strands an even black with little hint of gray on the top as he walked down the streets, following the directions he had been given. He smiled politely and nodded his head to a group as he passed by them, ignoring the odd looks and whispers he got as they moved on. He knew that he didn't really look like a person that would normally be in the area. He tugged on the long sleeves of his old blue tee-shirt, keeping the brown satchel looped around his body, holding the package to be dropped off. His faded blue jeans actually fit him a bit better than his shirt did, however they were ripped in parts and patched up in others. Rhian knew for a fact he probably looked like a bum off the streets with a bit of a shower.
He snorted at the thought though, becoming more relaxed in the up to do area. Half of the people here would probably kill themselves if they had to live like he did. Life was interesting enough. He kept himself fed and clothed, maybe not to the degree that these people were used to, but he kept himself alive and that's what was important.
Rhian came to a pause and smiled as he came to the apartment. He got buzzed in by the main staff and left the package in the main area for the client to pick up when he or she had some free time to do so. Rhian got his paper's signed by the staff before he headed out, letting out a breath as he got back into the normal street. He gave a lazy stretch and smiled, soaking up the sunlight as he moved back down the street to the train. Becoming a were-cat left some interesting side affects to say the least.

Damian had moved to the city three weeks ago and was loving it. He loved the hustle and the bustle yet at the same time the pace was still slow enough for a snail to feel like a rabbit. Because of the large tourist trade the streets were crowded but it wasn't uncomfortable. With his shifter nose he could smell the scent of various werewolves, wererats and maybe even a hyena. The smell was lingering but was a couple of days old. Had Damian smelled a weretiger he would have run as fast as he could. But Victoria had said that there was only one, herself, so that was good enough for now.
He was dressed in designer jeans that fit him smoothly and a short sleeved designer shirt that was slightly damp in the back from sweat. He was not used to the humidity of the air, preferring much cooler climates. On his head he had dark tinted sunglasses that let no one see his eyes. Not that there was anything wrong with his eyes, they were normal human color, but the sun was too bright for his taste. He preferred venturing out after dark, sleeping away the day as if he were a vampire and not a man of luxurious means.
Along his walk where he met many pretty tourists he passed various carts selling various things. The giant turkey leg smelled delicious, but there were also carts that sold sweets such as slushees, ice cream and begets. His mouth watered as he had planned to get some breakfast in a nice little cafe (air conditioned) where he could watch all the pretty women walking secretly dabbing nonchalant like at the sweat that pooled on their foreheads, or the dashing men who smelled like sweet honey, sweat and lust.
Damian absent mindlessly dropped some coins into a beggars cup. Some of the coins hit the cup but a few rattled onto the cement floor clattering to the ground with a little ding. It was no skin off of his back to miss the cup when all it would have taken on his part was a little leverage and aim. But the beggar should be appreciative that he had received two dollars worth of change when most people gave only a one nickle or maybe a dime.
He strolled a bit further and even though he was wearing deeply shaded glasses he could see that the person before him as he passed by on the sidewalk looked to be homeless. Their clothes were faded and full of many holes. Damian obviously held his breath as a child might do so when passing a cemetery. But he caught a hint of something that smelled like cat. It was more then if he had a lover that was a cat or even a cat as a pet. It was like this homeless young man who hadn't yet found a position to beg was some sort of cat. He did not smell like a weretiger (thankfully), it was a scent Damian knew well. He had also had the pleasure of meeting various other large werecats. Yet he could not place the scent. Was it some type of rare but unusual cat flavor?
He luckily happened upon a cart right then and purchased the product corn on a stick without much thought. Damian glared at the corn on a stick when he realized what he had purchased. But he got his change back and turned to follow the mystery were-cat boy. Damian wondered if he was the product of one of those new cats that scientists had named like lyger or something maybe extinct like a prehistoric beast! The wind was blowing in Damian's face so thankfully the homeless young man (or he could have been someone rich pretending to be homeless - a new fad he had heard of) wouldn't scent his own scent right away. Hopefully with the corn on a stick the young man wouldn't think Damian was following him. He got out his cell phone and Googled all the types of cats in the world. He was imagining the lad to be the gigantic prehistoric thing that he was now looking at a drawing of. |

With a happy hum Rhian made his way down the streets, smiling and over all happy that he was done with the job and moving to pick up his pay and head home. Maybe he would even splurge and go to the store and buy something to eat! Rhian's mouth watered at the thought of some lovely steak, a rare treat he had not gotten for himself in many months. Normally it would only be something he would buy for himself on his birthday but he would be getting a nice chunk of change with the package he just delivered.
His thought wavered for a bit, noticing a good looking guy walking down toward him in what seemed to be rather nice clothes. For a brief moment Rhian pondered over the other, it seemed to him that the man should be in a richer area, but some people knew how to make themselves look richer than they were. He shook his head and brushed his fingers through his hair, walking past said man. His nose twitched as a scent drifted to him, making the hair on the back of his neck stand up on end. The man was dangerous, his instincts were screaming at him to be careful of something that was much bigger than he. Rhian snorted softly at the thoughts raging in the back of his head. He was a flipping house cat, everything was pretty much bigger than he was. However he rubbed his arms, willing the hair to go down as he walked faster, wanting to get away from the were-cat that was making him edgy.
"Rhi! I hit the jackpot today!" Rhian blinked and looked over, grinning when he saw a man he knew fairly well from passing by.
"Did you know Ted? What happened, dollar bill fly buy?" Rhian moved over to the homeless man, tilting his head slightly to the side in question. They weren't really friends, but Rhian would donate what he could to the other now and again, and offer a room for when the winter months came about. He knew how truly lucky he was to have a house at all.
"Nah, even better. Some guy dropped off a ton of change for me, it was great." Ted gave a grin, letting Rhian look into the cup. "I'll be able to add this in with the others, save up some money and get some good food tonight or tomorrow maybe." Ted shrugged, eying the cup and counting what he had and adding it with the other money he had hidden away.
"Good deal than. I just finished a job myself and I'm picking up some money. Might spoil myself tonight with some good food. I think I've earned it." Rhian chuckled softly and stood up, brushing some dirt off his clothes. "Hey, remember if you need a place to stay you can always come over to my place alright? A roof over your head does wonders."
Ted chuckled and waved the younger boy off. "Don't worry. I'll camp out at your house if the weather becomes too bad. It's good though right now. Easy sleeping outside with the air in the evenings."
Rhian nodded his head before he sighed. "Well see ya Ted. I have to go and meet up with my boss before heading off." He grinned and gave a small wave to Ted before he continued down the street. He paused and watched a couple of cars head by before he jumped onto a street car that would take him right to where he needed to go, never once noticing the were-tiger that had been following him.

He really should have been paying attention to what he was buying. If anything vegetables (unless corn was a fruit) were his enemy. He couldn't stand corn, it was disgusting second only to brussell sprouts and broccoli. Yet it was only purchased to give him a chance to 'turn around' and not look suspicious. Had the cat sniffed him while they had passed? Because he would know exactly what Damian was. And it was he who had the advantage over Damian. It was driving him mad to know the mystery cat flavor.
He watched as the mystery cat began to donate money to the homeless man. Wait, it was looking like he hadn't given anything but was conversing instead. Talking up a homeless bum? Well, perhaps they were both bums. So Damian wouldn't look silly just standing there staring at two homeless bums he purchased a cool refreshing bottled water. It was needless to say an extravagant purchase at two dollars for a bottle of water but it was hot out. Damian took a nice long guzzle of his water biding his time, watching the mystery cat boy.
Finally the mystery cat boy Rhi? (his name had been shouted loudly enough by the homeless man unless it was crazy talk) moved on. And Damian continued, as if he had just ventured out for the bottle of water. "Here," Damian said lightly as he passed the bum, throwing his stick of un-eaten corn at the man. If he could catch it, props for him. Otherwise it would just hit the floor and get covered in dirt and anything else. This was probably the luckiest day in the homeless mans life minus any days he might find dollars.
Rhi was further up ahead then Damian and hopefully it wouldn't look like he was following him. There were plenty of shops to hit if he needed to buy something if Rhi should stop. Damian could smell his scent as it left a trail. What was he? Liger? Lion and Tiger. Tiglon? Ocelot? Saber-Tooth? Though he couldn't follow Rhi forever. But what could he say? 'Hey homeless cat I'll give you 20 bucks if you tell me what you are?' Because if the positions were reversed Damian would reply back 'Fuck you were-tiger.' Then all the bounty hunters would come.. |

Rhian hummed softly from the edge of the street car, watching a couple of people as they moved back and forth with their daily lives. He wasn't going really far, and he could have just walked really, but Rhian always found it fun to jump on and off of the little cars that carted back and forth across the many streets. If he didn't live here he would probably walk, they could get rather confusing how they whipped around corners and streets. However the cat had a good grip and thus stuck to the cart before jumping off only minutes later.
The trip to get his money was quick and easy and Rhian came out of the place grinning, a new wad of money safely hidden away on his body where it wouldn't fall out or be stolen from him. He walked slightly back toward the way he came, pausing when he noticed the strange man from before. Rhian's eyes ran over the were's body as he leaned his back against the cold brick of the building he was near. It might never happen but at least he could enjoy the view.
Rhian took even breaths through his nose, smelling out the other and easily placing the man in what he called a 'danger' category. Danger to him and danger for the other. Were-tiger from the smell of it. Strange, he had only passed by another tiger once and he never really stopped to pay attention to her. A tiger wandering around was a strange thing indeed, though he couldn't say much. He was an accident gone wrong pretty much. I mean a house cat? Really? Rhian gave an irritated growl softly to himself as he brushed his fingers through his hair. Fuck the tiger. He had more important things to be thinking about. Like his dinner.
Nearly salivating at the thought of a good steak dinner his mind was easily distracted away from the larger cat. He continued to lean against the building, probably looking like he was waiting for someone when really he was counting the money he got in his head, what he needed to buy, and if he could get himself something yummy. Maybe he would even swing by the fish market and see if anything good had been pulled up. It would probably be a tad bit cheaper now that the early buyers had snagged up all the best product. He pondered over the thought, ignoring the people around him.

His eyes sometimes drifted towards the back of his jeans. It was a nice view, not that Damian would act on it. He was twenty-three and Rhi looked sixteen or seventeen and homeless. He licked his lips and took another sip of his water bottle. Suddenly Rhi got on a little tram car. Should he run and catch the tram or just run on the sidewalk?
As a good runner Damian could catch the tram. Though he didn't want to appear suspicious. To go from casual to suddenly in a hurry? Suspicious. The tram took off and Damian watched it wondering if he could catch up to the cats stop when suddenly he jumped off of it. "Of course." He muttered under his breath. Rhi couldn't afford decent clothes. He probably couldn't afford the tram car.
Now the mystery cat was even further ahead of Damian. He tossed his empty water bottle in the trash and paid six dollars for a beer. It was alright to drink in public here. He gulped his beer as he hurried his walk. Then he saw Rhi go into a building. It was an office building. Just when Damian was finishing his beer trying to decide whether to go into the office or wait for him outside like a stalker Rhi came out. Damian threw away his second cup of beer from another vendor, finished, and continued to walk.
Rhi was leaned on the street corner like he was either waiting for someone or trying to sell drugs. Damian couldn't linger much longer so he passed Rhian. Should he say something to him? Damian was at a loss for words. He always knew what someones species was by their scent. How does one bring it up in conversation? He walked slowly passing Rhian and wondered if he felt eyes on him. Then after going a short distance, he turned around and walked back to Rhi. He stopped short of Rhi. "Um, hi." The scent of beer was on his breath. Though two little cups of alcohol did nothing for a man of his size, it helped too to be a shifter. |

Fish, it was going to have to be fish. Now that Rhian thought about it the little creature of the water was swimming around in his thoughts, pushing the cow out of the way and into a dark corner of his mind. Not that Rhian minded that at all. He was positive he would enjoy himself with either slab of meat to be in his stomach. Just as he was about to push off of the wall to head to his dinner he noticed the same tiger walking toward him. Rhian couldn't help but stiffen slightly as the smell of the cat reached him. His eyes followed after the man, happy to say the least that he was passed by. For a second there Rhian thought that the other was following him.
Rhi chuckled to himself at the thought, his eyes scanning the many people once again. He was some poor kid that could barely get enough money for food and cloths when he needed them. He was pretty darn sure the rich hotshot wouldn't even glance his way with anything other than disgust or pity.
The smell of the tiger hit him once again, making the small cat turn his attention to the side, blinking when he noticed the man he had been watching now standing near him. Not close enough to make Rhian feel too uncomfortable but enough to make him a little edgy. He could easily smell a bit of the beer but brushed it off. Shifters normally had a pretty high tolerance for the stuff anyway. He glanced to the sides for a quick moment, making sure that he was the one really being spoke to before turning his attention back.
"Hello." Rhian studied the man, seeing that he appeared a bit younger than what he had thought. Maybe twenty three to twenty five perhaps? Rhian ran through his head of why the man would be talking to him. Normally others stayed away from him. He did look homeless after all. The tiger must need help pretty bad or something. Because there was no way he was actually following Rhian. That wouldn't make any sense at all. "May I help you? Are you looking for something?" He smiled, tilting his head to the side and feeling his bangs brushing against his forehead. If there was one thing he prided himself on, it was keeping himself clean. His cloths might look warn and dirty but he always kept his skin and hair spotless as much as he could. Being a cat had a handy advantage for that. But now his cat like curiosity was getting to be the better of him as he watched the tiger.

Are you looking for something?"
The teenaged were-cat tilted his head and began to smile. He seemed friendly enough. Friendly enough compared to what Damian though could have happened. He might have had an attitude or a hand out for money. It was the easiest thing in the world to ask yet it was also the hardest. Some people were delusional, others just firmly denied the subject and would refuse to talk and admit what they were.
He decided that he would just spit it out. No hesitation in his voice. No pregnant pauses. "I was wondering what you are. You smell like a cat, but no cat I've ever smelled." There, it was finally off of his chest! It was a relief yet now Damian had to study Rhi's face. What would he say? Would he give Damian his answer, tell him to shove off, or deny it?
Some part of Damian wanted to explain a bit more. But he didn't want to say another word. He didn't want to find himself rambling. His voice was soft enough that only Rhi, the other sort of cat could hear him. Though they were in public and people were glancing their way as if to see if the homeless person would go crazy on the rich person they were all humans and had horrible human hearing and bad human body odors. |

Rhian waited and watched the other as he seemed to be thinking over something. Was it really so hard to ask him a question? He knew he looked homeless but really. Some of the homeless people he knew were the nicest ones around. He did however stay quiet until the man figured out what he wanted to say; and it wasn't what Rhian was expecting at all.
"I was wondering what you are. You smell like a cat, but no cat I've ever smelled."
Though the comment wasn't really put into a question there was a hint of it as the man spoke. Rhian blinked a couple of times before chuckling softly. "My, no one has ever just come out and asked like that before. It's very....refreshing instead of having someone fishing for answers." Rhian laughed again softly, smiling up at the other man. "I'm nothing special I can tell you that much. And I'm much much smaller than you." He tilted his head, giving a playful grin. He did have the upper hand here. He knew what the other man was.
Rhian leaned more comfortably back against the wall, not really relaxing but not to tense either. He mulled over the idea of just answering the other. The rich man was probably only around to find out what he was and than would leave Rhian be. Most of the were's did that to him and Rhian wasn't sure if he wanted the other to leave right away or stay so he could play. He shook his head and chuckled softly yet again. "I'm probably nothing like what your thinking. I'm nothing special."

"If anything, I've always been very blunt." Damian replied. The were-cat hadn't answered his question. It was like someone telling Damian that they had a secret and refused to tell him the secret, flaunting the secret in his face. Yet when he finally knew the secret itself it wasn't anywhere near as alluring it had been when it was a mystery.
Still, Damian was determined to have his answers. And why shouldn't he? He was a fierce were-tiger. He had gone into many battles over whether he should be kidnapped as golden were-tigers were rare and wanted by all the tiger clans as mating material. He had fought valiantly and maybe sometimes not quite so. But he came out no worse for the wear. And if need be, he could get his answers by beating the living daylights out of the were-cat. Though a motto was stuck in his head, something about friends and flies and catnip and dog biscuits. 'You get more friends with catnip then you do with dog biscuits.'
"I'm nothing special I can tell you that much. And I'm much much smaller than you."
"Why don't you let me be the judge of whether you're special or not." He said matter of factually as if he truly were the judge of whether one was special or an obliviously conformist wearing matching cookie cutter clothes. He then realized like all homeless beggars that Rhi (if that was his name as they had not made any introductions) was probably just waiting for Damian to open up his wallet (if it had not already been pick pocketed from his possession). The muscle bound tiger reached into his wallet and pulled out a ten dollar bill. Surely that was enough? He folded it and held it between his knuckles waiting for it to be snatched out of his hand - only Damian would snatch his hand away, wanting his information first. |

"If anything, I've always been very blunt."
Rhian held back a laugh at the statment the bigger man had said. He could tell that the other was used to getting his way too. Maybe it was because he was a tiger, and strong. Or maybe it was because the kid was rich and probably was used to things being handed to him on a silver platter, either way Rhian wasn't too sure if he should be amused by the tiger or annoyed by same said tiger. He was amused right now at the very least.
He had been rather honest with the man though. He wasn't intresting at all, no matter if the man thought he could be. He wasn't a show cat to be set on a table and poked and proded to be judged. Rhian almost growled to himself at the thought of such a disregrating act. However his scent often confused other were-animals, and often times they tried to get him to speak up what he was. He never told anyone though, it wasn't worth it, and it made getting away so much easier when they didn't know what he was. I mean he was the only house cat he knew of either way. Rare maybe. But not special as in powerful by any means.
His attention was jerked from his thoughts when he saw the man move, his body becoming tense once more until the other man pulled out a wallet and some money, holding it out to him. Rhian blinked for a moment, confused, before everything started to fall into place. He thought he could buy the information off of Rhian. He tryed to hold it back, but Rhian found himself laughing, holding his arms around his stomach to make sure he didn't hurt himself from how hard he was cracking up. Oh this rich kid amused him so!
Rhian let himself calm down, chuckling and giggling now and again as he looked up at the tiger, grinning like mad. "Your a silly tiger, you know that right?" Rhian pushed off of the wall and gave a small wave to the other man. "I have better things to do than to play with you. Sorry I wasn't able to help you out." He bowed his head to the other man before he turned to head away. What did he deside again? Oh yes, fish!

Damian was dumbstruck as the were-cat began to laugh at him. He was a sophisticated, spoiled brat with not one silver spoon in his mouth but many, the type also encrusted with jewels. But never before in his whole life had he been laughed at. Why would people laugh at him? He was attractive and he had money. He made 'friends' as easily as a conman made you go for broke at a game of three card Monty.
His cheeks tanned from the New Orleans sun began to blush. Damian felt as if he were in a place that dealt with a lot of fire - like hell. What were people thinking of him? He knew what he would think if he were them. That he had tried to buy sex of some sort and got turned down. This was needless to say, the most embarrassing day of his entire twenty-one years on the planet. It was what he got talking to homeless creatants for homeless people implied that they were some sort of person.
"Why...you...!" Damian said his face still flush with fresh embarrassment. He balled his hand into a fist, it came naturally to him and tried to strike out the mystery were-cat. He would NOT be made a fool of. Though he had already been made a fool of. He wanted to shot 'I didn't offer the kid money for a blow job but for information as to what type of were-cat species he was.' But he knew that most humans would find that worse, were-cats then blowjobs from homeless creatants. |

Rhian was blissfully unaware of the problems he had caused in the man now behind him. He didn't much care, out of sight out of mind right? He had better things to be thinking about. Like now that he had the idea of fish in his head he had to pick the right fish. Maybe he would be lucky and a fresher one would still be in the mix for him to nab up. His mind mulled over this information before speaking drew him away.
"Why...You...!"
He turned his attention back, looking at the man with a small smile. "Sorry sir, but I'm not intresting. One of a kind maybe, but nothing intresting. Don't waste your time or money on something like me." Rhian just smiled at the other man, hoping to calm the other down. A mad tiger was probably not the best thing to be dealing with, and Rhian was used to talking about himself as if he was nothing. Perhaps he could get the tiger to forget about him and leave him alone. That would probably be the best for both of them.
It worked out even better that the tiger didn't know his name, he couldn't find him. Though the man might know where he picks up some odd jobs here and there. But would he really be that determind to find out about him? Rhian didn't think so to say the least. "Have a nice day sir. You should probably head inside and relax before the heat gets to you too much. Hot lately isn't it?" Rhian glanced up at the sky before he turned to continue to the fish market. It was getting hot, though Rhian was more than used to it. Maybe after his fish he would get a catnap in some sun.

Damian's eyes narrowed. He wanted to ask 'Are you patronizing me?' but he knew the answer and saying it would only make him sound stupid. The ten dollar bill that was in his hand was now crumpled from its previous state of perfectly crisp harmony.
Why was the were-cat keeping this a closely guarded state secret? Damian just had to have the answer! "Don't patronize me you street cat." It was the worst thing Damian could think of to say. His balled up fist headed towards the street cats face, ready to strike him out with a tiger fist of fury.
Damian was doing his best to not pay attention to the other people on the street. If people were watching him or not watching him he wasn't aware. Though he felt all eyes on him even if they weren't. But now that he had resorted to violence ....

Rhian continued on his way, just heading to to the very edge of the building and coming to a stop before th alley way. He couldn't understand why the man was so intrested in him to the point that he was this angry. Surely he knew that he wouldn't get the information he wanted right? Rhian eyed the alley way in thought. He could shift and easily hid away from the tiger, but he didn't want to leave his cloths behind. These were his good pair damn it! Plus depending on how fast the other could be...well it might not turn out so good for Rhian in the end.
"Don't patronize me you street cat."
Rhian shifted his body slightly, looking to the tiger before chuckling softly. "Oh you don't know how right you are mister." He shook his head and turned away, slipping into the alley way he had been standing in front of. He wouldn't shift or anything, this just happened to be the fastest way to the fish market. However Rhian didn't give it much thought. He figured the man would leave him be. He pretty much told the guy he was a street cat. Though what exactly that meant could be up for debate but Rhian pushed the thought to the side.
He didn't think too hard about the fact that he was going into a place with no human eyes, where no human ears could hear. He knew for a fact that the alley ways were dirty and highly doubted that the tiger would come after him. His mind turned to fish once again.
